Traits define your congressperson as to who and what they are, and what they can do.

One positive trait comes free, additional ones require a corresponding negative trait.

Trait balancing works through an equal-ratio requirement, in other words a point value of zero. For example, after picking the first free trait, for instance, Attractive, in order to also gain Military Service, the player would be forced to pick a negative trait with it, for instance, Good ol' Boy.

The two outlying traits are Nearly Flawless Past (positive) and Skeletons In Your Closet (negative), in that they both cost two points; picking Nearly Flawless Past would now require me to pick 2 negative traits to make up for it.

You cannot have both sides of a trait.

Military Service: Access to Power Armor, Your Old Military Suit, Heckler & Koch HK45, Colt 1911 .45 ACP items. Grants access to Ability "Invoke Prior Military Service". +1 Charisma.

Attractive: Grants access to "Sleep With An Intern". +2 Attractiveness.

Devout Christian: Access to Crucifix item. +2 charisma. Grants access to Ability "Invoke God".

Well-Educated: Access to Holographic Distortion Projector item. +2 Intelligence, +1 Speaking Ability, -1 Charisma. Grants access to Ability "Argue Constitutionality".

Nearly Flawless Past (Costs 2 traits): Decreases chance of a scandal being found by others' investigations.

Draft Dodger: -1 Charisma.

Ugly: -2 Attractiveness (other effects unknown currently, assuming they exist).

Atheist: -2 Charisma, +1 Speaking Ability

Good ol' Boy: Access to "Autoerotic Asphyxation", Trucker's Hat item. -2 Intelligence, -1 Speaking Ability, + 1 Charisma. Grants access to Ability "Argue Elitism".

Skeletons In Your Closet (Gives 2 traits): Leaves the player with a scandal that can never be covered up with Scandal Cover-Ups, and when discovered can be used to instantly remove a player from office.

Other Trait InformationEdit

"Military Service" is one of the best traits available, offering multiple good gear items and a fairly useful ability. On the other hand, "Draft Dodger" is one of the best negative traits to take, and should be taken if you do not take "Military Service", even if only to counter with "Devout Christian" for a extra point in Charisma.

"Nearly Flawless Past" is helpful if you plan on doing drugs/participating in skullduggery/other illicit activites frequently. Be aware that if you do them too frequently, even this trait wont be enough.

"Skeletons In Your Closet" has a extremely small (usually not discovered without thousands of attempts) chance of kicking out of office, and allows you to take any three positive traits.
